Farah Seddiki, also known as Petrichor, is an illustrator whose work ranges from the quiet magic of everyday life to the epic wonder of high fantasy.
Even before she learned to read, Farah would bury her nose in the many old books that filled her family’s library. Her work reflects the visual influence of her favorite books from that time: The 1970s Art Nouveau revival, children’s tales from the golden age of illustration, and fantasy and sci-fi novel covers from the end of the century. She developed her style with these nostalgic echoes, giving them a new shape with her imagination. Farah’s illustrations are often characterized by organic, elegant forms and rich color gradients. She enjoys combining ornamental elements and intricate details with enigmatic, colorful settings. This allows her to create scenes with dreamlike atmospheres that are sometimes dark and sometimes whimsical, and often sits on the border between the two.
Farah was born in Algeria and currently lives and works in France. She earned her degree from la Haute École des Arts du Rhin and settled in Strasbourg after falling in love with its medieval architecture and local folklore. After spending a few years designing stationery and merchandise, she is now interested in working on illustrated books, concert posters, and board games. Her latest clients include Stickii Club and The Bookish Box.
