I imagined this illustration as a meeting between

I imagined this illustration as a meeting between two of my favorite things this summer: the music of @tinariwen, and the fantasy and science fiction illustrations in @heavymetal magazine. Perhaps it wasn't obvious that these two distant worlds were meant to meet, but for me, it was necessary! From sketch to final illustration, here's a glimpse of some of the steps that went into creating this image. For Instagram, it fits into three slides, but obviously in real life it took me much longer! For example, I'm not counting the time I spent wondering if I'd be able to finish this painting without ruining it, which is totally part of the artistic process at this stage!

Imagine you've found this card between the pages of an old, forgotten book... It holds a special power, but what is it?
.
I'm a real disaster when it comes to showing my illustrations in their final form, but at least you're entitled to a little behind-the-scenes footage when I think about it. Thanks for sticking around and have a great day! 🖤

Here's one of my watercolour babies that I've never shown you completely finished! If you ever feel stuck in life, unable to choose between the different paths open to you, that's exactly the state of mind I was in when working on this illustration. I must have created three different versions of this image! Digital pointillism, sepia ink, watercolor... In the end, this is the one I like best. Even though going through a lot of different stages was tiring and complicated, it gave me the opportunity to experiment with a lot of different things and to make obvious what I was really trying to achieve. What seemed uncertain at the time seems obvious today, thanks to all those tries and fails! So if you too have reached a moment of doubt, don't give up and hang in there: in the end, with a little luck and stubbornness, you'll land on your feet! 🌟
