This is the Lightbearer, the second card for a set

This is the Lightbearer, the second card for a set I'm working on. I wanted to do something that will be a mixture of Art nouveau, high fantasy, and that reminds both tarot cards and games like Magic. When I was a child, I remember being trully obsessed by the illustrations on my older cousin's Magic cards, so being able to revisit this sense of wonder through my own work is something I like a lot. I have been dealing with a lot of grief in the past few months, and so I guess this illustration is also a little about that (probably the whole set will be, in fact, about that). I wonder how you will read into that yourself, though. After all, what is great about cards is that you can always see a lot of different things into them! Not sure how many cards I will make, but so far I'm planning to do at least a third one. I used to be very uncomfortable with projects that require to work with typography, so it have been also an excellent exercice regarding this aspect. Can't wait to show you the printed cards with their text and some holographic effects!

Working on the last details before finishing this piece today ! ✨ I wanted to do something pretty simple just for the fun and it turned out being so much more effort than it was supposed to be. I worked on a first draft, messed up with the colors, and had to start again from the begining. I regret nothing ! Disvovering you can still learn and get better after years of practice is really one of the best things I know. I had the same feeling I had as a teenager, bending over my desk for hours on my first watercolors, nervous with the excitement of creating something new. Also, did I already mentionned I have a thing for old wizards ?
